Is there a site where I can research automobiles for purely educational reasons?

POSTED BY admin on Mar 10 under General

I’m fascinated by cars but I find it hard to locate actual technical information about them, educational information. I don’t want to buy a car or look at a specific model. I want to research the history of automobiles, as well as modern types. Is there a site, or at least some good books, that can teach me about engines, model designs, materials used in manufacture, how the cars are crafted, etc?

Just go to any bookstore and find a book called the history of the automobile, the most present copy will be the best and good luck.

Most of the subcategories have fluffy articles. The “Under the hood” series covers various parts of the car and is the most practical, in my opinion.

I know you don’t want to research a specific model, but I learned more about cars by subscribing to a forum for my specific car. I’d browse random articles about maintaining or modifying my car. In doing so, I’d find out about general car theory and I found extra motivation to learn things that I could do to my car to save on maintenance or improve fuel economy.
