I look for them deliberately for the same reason you do. I find them on www.autotrader.com Just put "salvage" in the search windows. As long as you can fix the number of little things that are wrong with these vehicles yourself, it is possible to save a lot of money. On my 2004 Focus I bought last fall with 51,000 miles for $4600. Related to it being salvage, I had to replace one outside rear view mirror and properly clip down a wheel well liner. Non salvage title related repairs included new rear brake linings and a CV boot on the side opposite to the side that was fixed. And I always get a 4 wheel alignment done to all used cars I buy. 2 of my last 3 vehicle purchases have been salvage title. I look for them deliberately for the same reason you do.
